Insure your wedding? Say what?

Did you know that you can and should insure your wedding? It was a shock to me too! However, after doing some research, why wouldn’t you? I mean, you are spending just as much, if not more on your wedding day as you would a car and you definitely would insure that! But what does wedding insurance mean? What exactly would you need it for, you ask? Well, let me tell you!

There are two types of insurance, the first is Cancellation insurance.

1. You have to postpone your weddingurl-2

Say two feet of snow falls, I know in Colorado nothing stops for snow, but lets just say it did and your guests couldn’t make it to the wedding. Well, you’ve rented a facility, payed the deposit and hopefully paid the base facility fee by now and Colorado just wasn’t on your side. Insurance is going to cover this for you! Whew…that was a close call.

2. You have to cancel all together

Face it, life happens. We don’t want to think about it and will never expect anything to happen, but life has its ways of surprising you. So you broke up, do you just throw yourself a party or do you get insurance that is going to cover the deposits you lost for the band, flowers, cake, food and photos? Sounds like a no brainer to me!

The next insurance is one that I recommend that everyone at least look into: Liability Insurance.

1. Someone ruined your wedding dress!url-1

Aunt Susie had a little too much wine and went to hug you with a full glass…oops. Now you have to get it cleaned but the underskirt didn’t make it and some of the stains didn’t come out. Well, that’s what insurance is for!

2. There were damages to the venue.

You seriously love your sister and all her kids but sometimes don’t you wish she would actually watch them? The kids wandered off and started doing kid things like pulling all the flowers out of the flower beds, and throwing rocks at the nearby fence and digging in the grass. Now, the venue is going to stick you with a bill to fix those damages! Argh…Or…you have liability insurance and it will all be covered.

3.  The wedding gifts were stolen – what?!

I can’t even imagine this happening but I suppose it does. Say you don’t book at The Gatehouse at The Lionsgate Center where we can lock those gifts up so you don’t have to worry about them, and someone walks away with half your presents. They even took the new kitchen aid that you REALLY wanted! Luckily, you got that insurance and they are going to help you out.lifestyle-boutique-wedding-thief-small-55916

Ok, now that you have thought about all the bad things that COULD go wrong on your big day, lets get back to thinking about pink flowers and gorgeous wedding photos!

Wedding Vows, Wedding Vows

I’m not even engaged yet and I get nervous at the thought of “performing” wedding vows in front of so many people! Does that happen to you, or is it just me? Well anyway…

I’ve been around a few weddings, ya know, just one or two. 😉 So I’ve picked up some options for wedding vows and thought I would share them with you!

The classic

I, (name), take you, (name), to be my [opt: lawfully wedded] (husband/wife), my constant friend, my faithful partner and my love from this day forward. In the presence of God, our family and friends, I offer you my solemn vow to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you for as long as we both shall live.

The Personal

Brian, because I love you, I promise to treat you the way you want to be treated, and give you the respect you deserve. I promise to maintain your trust with my words and actions. I promise to always be your partner in crime and adventure, your lover, your sounding board, your co-pilot, your sous-chef, your copyeditor, and your friend. I will tell you when you are wrong and help you to find a righter way, without making excuses or rescuing you. I will respect your boundaries. I will pack light. I will help you figure out how you feel. I will pay attention and give you time. I will listen, both to what you say, and to what you don’t say. I promise to always share what’s in my heart, even if I am afraid. I will strive to be my best self for you.

The hilarious

“Jamie Marie, from this day forward I promise to be worth it. Worth the time. Worth the trip. Worth the energy. Worth the embarrassment. Worth your love. I promise that you will always count. You will always come first, and of course, if you don’t for whatever reason, I will buy you some shoes.

From the moment you entered my world, you have filled it with life, color, and energy like never before…like kool-aid in a mud puddle…or a cupcake in a salad…or a rose garden in a junk yard. You are my rose, Jamie Marie, and I promise to devote my life to being your dirt.”

Did you know that Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston vowed to always split the difference on the thermostat? I love that. Just what my boyfriend and I need to vow!

Well, I hope this helps you figure out just what you want to say on YOUR big day! Have fun planning!!

Take a comfortable walk down the aisle in TOMS – a lovely wedding shoe.

When Toms shoes first came to my attention I thought they seemed to be a style reserved for earth-loving hipsters, but once I slipped on my first pair I was hooked. Toms are not only comfortable (if arch support is not on the top of your footwear priority list), but for every pair of Toms bought, a pair of shoes is donated to a child somewhere around the world.

Check out the website here: Toms Website

To make outfit coordination a breeze, Toms come in just about every color and pattern you can imagine. At first Toms offerings were  restricted to a standard slipper style shoe, but they’ve now expanded to wedges, boots, and more!

When I dress up to go out one of two things happens regarding my shoe choice. ONE: I prance around in my cute high heels while getting ready, but by the time I’m heading out the door I’ve already made the executive decision to ditch the heels for flats. Or, TWO: I leave the house in heels because I am DETERMINED to show the puppies off for a night, but end up barefoot or walking like a crippled giraffe by midnight. Moral of the story – I don’t do well in heels.

Now, because heels aren’t my thing in “regular life” I’m not so sure if I see myself wearing this genre of shoe on my wedding day. Many brides who cherish the notion of comfortable feet on their wedding day are forgoing heels for cute flats like Toms. The perfect wedding day shoe! While some may cringe at the thought of a sneaker-like-shoe hiding under an elegant dress this trend is actually super cute and tasteful.

Here is the picture evidence.

TIP: It’s important for your “wedding Toms” to be straight-out-the-box so they look crisp and not like you’ve lived a whole summer in them.

Oh, and one last thing: a video we found that should tickle your fancy.
